Paper 3.1

I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do for my 3.1 yet, but I do have some ideas. I am pro border fence in high population areas, but against fencing the entire southern U.S. border. For the sections of the border that do not get fenced, the government should take advantage of new technology. There are plenty of new technologies that will aid the border patrol in stopping illegal immigration. Fencing in the border in high populated areas will help prevent illegals from quickly crossing the border and fitting in and slipping by border patrol. I will be making a proposal argument to prove to my audience that my proposal is the solution. My audience is going to be Texans who don't want the fence to be built at all. But the fact is some of the fence has already been built, and it has been proven to work in the high populated area of San Diego.

Again I am not sure if I am going to use this as my 3.1, its just an idea.

The Border Fence

The border fence is a idea proposed by many people who think that it will end or at least slow illegal immigration from Mexico. The fence may or may not be built. Some people think this is a great idea and others think that it is a horrible idea. People who may be opposed are environmentalists who believe that by building this fence it will entrap animals from roaming free across the border, cut them off from water, and killing wildlife habitats. Ranchers and Farmers may also be opposed to the building of the fence for similar reasons that the environmentalists have. Other Americans might not want the fence built because they feel that it is simply a waste of tax payers’ dollars. Similarly, people feel that soon after the fence is built the coyotes and illegals will certainly find ways under and over the fence. People who may be supportive of the border fence could possibly be Americans who believe that illegals are taking away jobs here in America. Others could be in support because they live on or near the border and are faced with the illegals daily. Some might be in favor of putting up the fence just around populated towns and communities where they feel threatened by the illegals, which come to smuggle drugs and are not just looking for a better life. Some Americans feel that this is their land and that not just anyone should be able to come into it when they feel like it. Certain Americans may be opposed to the fence because of fear of terrorists and gang members who should definitely not be coming into America.
The most likely audience for this topic about the border fence would be American citizens in general. This is not just a problem that the Border States have to deal with; this is a problem that all Americans have to deal with. People care about the outcome of the border fence because Tax payers are going to have to pay for it and all of the people who are for and against building the border fence have opinions of why it should be and why it shouldn’t be built (as seen in the first paragraph).
